Friday evening 7 day forecast
After a few days of warmth, winter returns to Chicago today, with temperatures dropping to more seasonal levels and a snowstorm scheduled to hit overnight.
Temperatures were in the 50s at O'Hare International Airport early this morning, but they'd dropped to the low 40s by late morning. ChicagoWeatherCenter.com predicts a low in the mid-20s by the end of the day.
As the temperatures drop, precipitation begins to arrive. The National Weather Service says that the wet weather – snow, sleet and freezing rain – will start to arrive between 7 and 11 p.m. tonight and will continue into Sunday. The early prediction is for 1-2 inches of snow by the time the storm passes, with hazardous travel an expected byproduct.
Sunday looks even more wintry, according to the Chicago Weather Center, with temperatures dropping into the middle teens.
